The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smartstuff punishes Rodriguez's body with a nice straight punch.
Rodriguez keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice sprawl there from Rodriguez as Smartstuff shoots in.
Smartstuff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rodriguez throws a hook to the side of Smartstuff's head but Smartstuff sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Rodriguez closes the distance and clinches.
Rodriguez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smartstuff.

Rodriguez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rodriguez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smartstuff regains guard immediately.

Rodriguez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Smartstuff can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rodriguez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Smartstuff turns into him and now he's in Rodriguez's guard.

Rodriguez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Smartstuff frees his head nicely. Oh but Rodriguez has switched to an armbar! Smartstuff is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
