Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Serwacy Smolarek (ranked 3222 p4p, 3064 weight class) and Clifford Price (ranked 394 p4p, 384 weight class). Smolarek comes to the cage accompanied by No Easy Way Out. Price is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The In Sound from Way Out by Beastie Boys. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Serwacy Smolarek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clifford Price!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Price lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Price gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Smolarek breaks from the clinch.
A slow jab from Smolarek misses its intended target.
Smolarek is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Price shoots in but no luck this time.
Smolarek misses with an uppercut.

Price uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smolarek.

Smolarek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Price working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Price shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Price takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smolarek enables Price to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smolarek manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Smolarek has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Price off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Price shoots in and bounces Smolarek off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Price trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Smolarek manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Price misses with a takedown attempt - Smolarek sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Price connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Smolarek some visible discomfort.

Price scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Smolarek is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Price can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
