PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Stubb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Stubb!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stubb closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lee manages to get back to half guard.
Stubb uses his free foot to push down on Lee's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lee.
Lee keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Stubb jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lee manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Stubb is trying to get an arm triangle but Lee is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stubb is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lee is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Stubb is trying to move to mount but Lee reverses beautifully and ends up in Stubb's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Stubb is retaining full guard.

Stubb had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lee is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Stubb Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lee's back instead.

Stubb is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. Stubb let's go of the attempt for now.
Lee looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Lee is trying to shake Stubb off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Stubb won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
Stubb tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lee swivels and escapes.
Lee lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stubb backs up against the cage.

Stubb feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Stubb drops back looking for a leg! Lee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lee manages to kick Stubb off! Stubb jumps back into Lee's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lee throws a shot to the body.

Stubb shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lee pinned against the cage. Lee gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Stubb misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Both fighters circling a little - Lee finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Lee just misses with a elbow thrown towards Stubb's brow.

Lee moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stubb has worked his arm free - good work by Stubb!
Lee wants to stand but Stubb has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Stubb is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stubb is on top in guard.

Stubb drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stubb jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brock Lee.
I think Stubb has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
