Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Elias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Pacheco!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elias closes the distance and clinches.
Stalling in the clinch from Elias.
Elias is leaning against Pacheco and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Pacheco changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Elias fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Elias cracks a nice hook into Pacheco's ribs.
Pacheco looks gassed!

Elias feints and as Pacheco raises his hands in defense, Elias changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Elias keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pacheco's head.
Elias working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pacheco's head.
Elias content to stall in guard here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Elias landing some decent shots from guard.

Elias stands up from Pacheco's guard - Elias perhaps looking for a knockout.
Elias punishes Pacheco's body with a nice straight punch.

Elias shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Elias showed some decent athleticism there.
Elias content to control rather than advance.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Elias connects with a nice short shot to Pacheco's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Elias performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Elias lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Elias looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Elias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pacheco on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rodrigo Elias just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Elias punishes Pacheco's body with a nice straight punch.
Elias lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Pacheco at a distance.

Elias forces Pacheco back against the cage and clinches.

Elias pulls guard.
Elias striking off his back but it's not causing Pacheco any problems.
Elias keeping full guard, as Pacheco tries to pass.
Elias looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Elias on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Elias tries to get out of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pacheco drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pacheco jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Elias thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Elias is controlling Pacheco's posture.
Elias is trying to control the position but Pacheco postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Elias bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pacheco's guard.

Pacheco looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Elias stays in close to Pacheco's body and controls the position.
Elias advances position into side control!

Elias is trying to get an arm triangle but Pacheco is defending well.
Pacheco is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Elias's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Elias stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Elias scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodrigo Elias dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Pacheco misses with a takedown

and Elias counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pacheco won't be happy with that.
Elias advances nicely into full mount.
Pacheco flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Elias controlling from the full mount.
Elias is landing with some decent strikes but Pacheco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Elias prevents Pacheco from getting the reversal.
Elias sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Elias has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pacheco's face.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pacheco is in all sorts of trouble here.

Elias has isolated one of Pacheco's arms. Pacheco looking to fight him off but Elias twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
