Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Thomas Babcock (ranked 1455 p4p, 1459 weight class) and Martin Burns (ranked 195 p4p, 196 weight class). Babcock comes to the cage accompanied by 70. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesse Thomas Babcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Burns!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babcock misses with a wild body shot.
Burns with the counter takedown but Babcock avoids it easily.
Burns avoids the body shot from Babcock.
Babcock leaves Burns with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Burns gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Babcock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Burns slips a straight right by Babcock.
Burns tries for a takedown but Babcock circles away easily
and Babcock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jesse Thomas Babcock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Burns.
Burns closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Burns scores with a one two! Babcock had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Babcock definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Burns fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Babcock avoids it really well and circles away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Burns or perhaps it was just good defense by Babcock, which made it look bad.
Burns moves in looking to clinch but Babcock pushes him off.
Babcock will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nice uppercut lands for Babcock. That snapped Burns's head back.
Jesse Thomas Babcock is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Burns counters with a single leg into guard. Babcock didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burns is pushing down on Babcock's leg trying to pass to half guard. Babcock is fighting to maintain full guard but Burns has managed to sneak the leg through.
Burns is looking to advance position but Babcock won't allow it.

Babcock is staying active underneath Burns, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Burns is working for a kimura here but Babcock manages to reverse the position and he's now in Burns's guard.

Burns shoots in looking for a takedown. Babcock tries to sprawl out of it but Burns keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Babcock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Burns dives in and grabs Babcock's left leg, looking for a takedown. Babcock pushes down on Burns's head and hops out.

Babcock tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burns was well out of range. Poor timing from Babcock.

Babcock fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Babcock tries to bum rush Burns with a series of wild strikes but Burns uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Burns.
A looping hook to the body misses from Babcock. Burns does a little dance to reset his feet.
Burns goes for a double leg but Babcock avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Babcock continues to drive forward.
Martin Burns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Babcock keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Babcock throws a big shot that misses.
Burns fails with a takedown attempt.

Burns tries to score with a low kick but Babcock moves his leg out of the way.
Burns throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Babcock's waist but Babcock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burns off to one side.

and Babcock counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Babcock changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Babcock goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Babcock swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Burns changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Burns is still on wobbly legs! Can Babcock finish him?
Babcock throws a hook but Burns blocks it.
Babcock stuffs the takedown attempt from Burns. Burns gets slowly back to his feet.
Burns walks into a stiff left hand from Babcock.
Burns takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Burns tries for a takedown but Babcock sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Babcock throws a body punch but Burns moves out of range.
Babcock cracks Burns with a right hand to the side of the head.
Burns tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Babcock defends well and Burns ends up having to push Babcock into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Babcock misses with a hook. Burns ducked under it nicely.
Burns tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Burns dives in for a single leg takedown but Babcock sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burns felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Babcock lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Burns.
Babcock lands strikes from the back and Burns isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.
