Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Timo Nieminen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heikki Jaaskelainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nieminen's entrance music is Rentun Ruusu. A fine choice. Jaaskelainen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Girl in a Uniform kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieminen tries to land a front kick but Jaaskelainen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jaaskelainen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jaaskelainen moves out of range of the strikes.
Nieminen moves out of range of the body kick from Jaaskelainen.
Jaaskelainen avoids a kick to the body.

Jaaskelainen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nieminen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jaaskelainen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nieminen manages to avoid it.

Nieminen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jaaskelainen swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timo Nieminen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nieminen is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nieminen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nieminen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nieminen is breathing heavily.

Jaaskelainen throws a series of punches but Nieminen avoids them all with ease.
Jaaskelainen tries to clinch up but Nieminen circles away and keeps his distance.

Nieminen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jaaskelainen.
Jaaskelainen is looking to clinch but Nieminen is avoiding it.
Jaaskelainen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nieminen's guard.
Nieminen has his foot on Jaaskelainen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jaaskelainen works his way back into a safe position though.

Jaaskelainen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nieminen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nieminen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jaaskelainen escapes and throws Nieminen's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Jaaskelainen stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nieminen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jaaskelainen's waist but Jaaskelainen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nieminen off to one side.
Jaaskelainen has managed to clinch.
Jaaskelainen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nieminen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jaaskelainen just stands there and leans against the ropes.
A nice left hand lands by Jaaskelainen.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Nieminen as Jaaskelainen tries to tie him up.
Nieminen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jaaskelainen has him pressed against the ropes.
Nieminen pulls guard.
Nieminen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jaaskelainen's guard.
Jaaskelainen wants to stand but Nieminen is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jaaskelainen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Nieminen has passed into side control.
Jaaskelainen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nieminen asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Nieminen lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Nieminen has hold of Jaaskelainen's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jaaskelainen tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Nieminen cranks the arm and Jaaskelainen screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jaaskelainen, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Timo Nieminen!
