PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aramis Knox (ranked 2255 p4p, 23693 weight class) and Israel Carlson (ranked 277 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bonecracker/ Shocore kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aramis Knox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Israel Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox walks into a jab.
Knox swings for the body but Carlson moves out of range.
Carlson connects with a solid leg kick.
Carlson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Knox ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carlson moves away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Carlson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Knox - the referee stops the clock and Carlson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Knox. Carlson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Carlson fails to land with a series of punches.
It looked like Knox was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Carlson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Knox shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Carlson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Knox has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Carlson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Knox connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carlson scrambles back to his feet.

Carlson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Knox stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Knox seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Knox has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carlson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Knox has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carlson has managed to get both his arms back between Knox's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

I would just about give that final round to Israel Carlson.
