PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julius Howell (ranked 2383 p4p, 2157 weight class) and Joel Osmond (ranked 282 p4p, 251 weight class). Howell's entrance music is HonestKey- The Unseen. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julius Howell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joel Osmond!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osmond scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Howell doesn't seem bothered though.

Howell takes the fight into the clinch.
Howell throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Osmonds head.
Howell scores with an uppercut up the middle.

It looks like Joel Osmond has been cut.
Howell tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Howell lands a right hand that snaps the head of Osmond backwards.
Osmond's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Osmond blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Howell cracks Osmond with a nice body shot.

Howell jumps guard and drags Osmond to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Howell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Howell is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Howell tries to free his leg and advance position but Osmond is retaining full guard.

Osmond looking for a guillotine here but Howell defends easily.

Howell with a flurry of punches that miss.
Howell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Osmond keeping moving, preventing Howell from controlling successfully.
Osmond is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Osmond looking for a guillotine here but Howell defends easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Howell's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Howell won't allow Osmond to sweep him here.
Osmond is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Howell wants to pass the guard but Osmond is keeping the position.
Osmond keeping moving, preventing Howell from controlling successfully.

Osmond looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Howell has picked Osmond up and slammed him! Osmond can't keep hold of the triangle and Howell manages to pass to side control!
Osmond wants to control but Howell postures up.
Howell moves into full mount!
Howell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Howell lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Howell looking for a guillotine from mount but Osmond is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Osmond tries to reverse the position but Howell maintains control.

Osmond defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Howell.
Osmond wants to hold on but Howell pushes him away.
Howell raining down hammerfists from mount.

The cut above Joel Osmond's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Howell scoring with strikes but Osmond is staying in there.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joel Osmond's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
