This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Peter Petersson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 18 losses; Nuri Jafar!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Jafar shoots in for a takedown but Petersson shows good takedown defense.
Petersson seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Petersson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jafar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Petersson wants a takedown.
Jafar prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Petersson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Petersson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jafar fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jafar is looking to clinch but Petersson is avoiding it.
Jafar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Petersson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Petersson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Jafar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Petersson is not content to let Jafar control the position.
Jafar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jafar is looking to work his way around to Petersson's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Petersson tries to hold on but Jafar postures up.
Petersson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Jafar is taking a breather. Petersson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Jafar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Petersson keeps control of the position for the meantime.
My spies in Rabid Dog inform me that Jafar has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Petersson manages to get to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jafar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petersson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Petersson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jafar manages to get himself to full guard.

Petersson is fighting to break Jafar's control of his arms but Jafar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Jafar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jafar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Petersson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jafar is looking for a sweep.
Petersson is looking to take a break and control but Jafar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jafar is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Petersson has taken his back.

What can Jafar do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Petersson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Petersson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Jafar.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Petersson takes the fight on points by 10 to 3.
A less than humble Peter Petersson misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
In defeat, Nuri Jafar stepped up to the mic, saying 'He did not follow the script'.
