Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Crispian (ranked 336 p4p, 1672 weight class) and Michel Santos (ranked 35 p4p, 150 weight class). Santos has chosen DMX - Intro as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Crispian!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michel Santos!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crispian misses with a lunging right hand

and Santos counters with a single leg into guard. Crispian didn't expect that.
Santos with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crispian swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Santos trying to move into half guard but instead Crispian has managed to sweep!


Santos looking for a guillotine here but Crispian defends easily.
Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Crispian stays in close to Santos's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos controls Crispian momentarily but Crispian frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Crispian trying to control the position from guard on top but Santos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Santos wants to sweep but no luck.
Crispian pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santos is keeping the position for now.
Crispian postures up.
Crispian stands and throws Santos's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Santos is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Crispian is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos wants to hold on but Crispian pushes him away.
Santos is looking to improve his position but Crispian isn't that keen on the idea.
Santos felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Santos regains half guard.
Santos wants to improve his position but Crispian is controlling well.
Crispian content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Crispian wants to take a breather but Santos is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos wants to get back to full guard.
Santos is holding on to half guard well.
Santos wants to control but Crispian is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Santos is refusing to be controlled, as Crispian sits in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Santos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Crispian throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crispian as he jumps to the side.
Crispian looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
A head kick by Crispian misses
and Santos counters with a stiff right hand.
Santos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Crispian scores with a jab to the jaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Santos has a takedown stuffed.
Crispian scores with a body shot.
Crispian looks to score with a jab to the body but Santos is just out of range.
Crispian paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Santos throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Crispian on the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Crispian defends well and Santos ends up having to push Crispian into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ben Crispian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michel Santos.
Santos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crispian but Crispian pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crispian drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Santos right on the button. Santos goes down! Crispian follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Crispian gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Crispian!
Ben Crispian retains his featherweight title!
