Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Phoenix (ranked 5440 p4p, 5234 weight class) and Lane Hedley (ranked 284 p4p, 196 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lane Hedley!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hedley moves into range and clinches up with Phoenix.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hedley throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Phoenix escapes and throws Hedley's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hedley felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Hedley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Phoenix uses from the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I think Hedley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Lane Hedley misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
