Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Mesquita (ranked 359 p4p, 928 weight class) and Cau Ryhein (ranked 52 p4p, 124 weight class). Ryhein has chosen GAS GAS GAS as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Mesquita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cau Ryhein!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ryhein defends it nicely.
Mesquita checks the leg kick nicely there.

Ryhein tries to close the distance and clinch but Mesquita swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ryhein throws the left hand but Mesquita avoids the punch easily.
Ryhein throws a sloppy head kick and Mesquita moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round but I would say that Richard Mesquita will probably get the nod.

Mesquita seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ryhein does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mesquita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryhein is just riding it out for now. Mesquita eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mesquita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ryhein looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mesquita is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryhein is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
