PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between OJ Simpson (ranked 4733 p4p, 4225 weight class) and LJ Ulale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simpson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Get Juiced. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ulale throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Simpson.
Ulale walks into a straight right hand from Simpson.
Ulale takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Ulale feints and as Simpson raises his hands in defense, Ulale changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ulale is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Ulale has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Simpson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ulale on the ground.

Simpson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ulale scores with a couple of nice shots.

Ulale has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ulale decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Ulale dives in and grabs Simpson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Simpson pushes down on Ulale's head and hops out.

Simpson scores with a sloppy right hand. Ulale should have avoided that one.
Ulale takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ulale moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Simpson lands a jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Simpson.

Ulale looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Simpson tries to kick Ulale off but Ulale keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ulale looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Simpson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Simpson has one foot on Ulale's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Simpson is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

That was a close round but I would say that OJ Simpson will probably get the nod.

Ulale shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simpson's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ulale is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Simpson is defending well though. Ulale let's go of the attempt for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
