Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tom Korppila (ranked 2171 p4p, 2099 weight class) and Harry McQuirre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Korppila comes to the cage accompanied by Mustasch - The Mauler. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Korppila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harry McQuirre!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korppila darts in looking for a takedown but McQuirre gets double underhooks and turns Korppila into the cage.
McQuirre doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Korppila wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Korppila tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Korppila tries to circle away but McQuirre has him pinned against the cage.
McQuirre is pressed up against the cage. Korppila has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McQuirre down to the mat. McQuirre avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
McQuirre fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Korppila.
McQuirre thuds a left hand into Korppila's body.
McQuirre thumps Korppila with a low kick.
A cross from McQuirre lands.
McQuirre tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Korppila was well out of range. Poor timing from McQuirre.
Korppila shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McQuirre defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Korppila. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Korppila misses the jab.
McQuirre throws a right hand that Korppila ducks under and follows up with a left that Korppila also avoids with ease.
McQuirre moves into range and connects with a jab.
McQuirre slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
McQuirre thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Korppila if he has to take too many more of those.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McQuirre feints and then cracks Korppila's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Korppila down.

Korppila closes the distance and clinches.
McQuirre works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
McQuirre blocks a body shot from Korppila.
We've been informed that McQuirre has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Korppila creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

McQuirre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McQuirre clobbers Korppila with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
A jab from McQuirre finds it's way through Korppila's defenses.
McQuirre lands with an uppercut that bounces Korppila off the cage and back into range.
McQuirre tests Korppila's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Korppila is looking to clinch but McQuirre is avoiding it.
McQuirre lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Korppila is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McQuirre throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McQuirre connects with a good right hand that stumbles Korppila. Korppila circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Oh Korppila is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Korppila walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
McQuirre delivers a nice body kick.
The fighters circling - Korppila throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McQuirre jabs Korppila right on the nose. Korppila blinks but takes it well.
McQuirre lands a jab.
Korppila tries to land a front kick but McQuirre steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
McQuirre misses with a low kick.
Korppila seems to have got his legs back now.
McQuirre fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Korppila looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nice uppercut there from McQuirre.
McQuirre lands with a shot to the body.
Korppila takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Korppila is trying hard to land a takedown here. McQuirre sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Korppila takes the fight into the clinch.
I was talking to Korppila's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
McQuirre misses with the head strike.
Korppila takes an elbow to the forehead.
McQuirre using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Korppila has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Korppila lands a body punch in the clinch.
Korppila is trying to force a seperation but McQuirre has the dominant position.

McQuirre lands with a short shot to the head.
A short body shot lands from Korppila as the two fighters clinch.
Korppila digs a right hand underneath McQuirre's ribcage. McQuirre let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Korppila scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Korppila manages to pull guard.
Korppila trying to control the position.

Korppila is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Korppila looking for a guillotine here but McQuirre defends easily.
McQuirre wants to stand but Korppila is controlling his posture from full guard.

Korppila has his foot on McQuirre's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McQuirre works his way back into a safe position though.
McQuirre tries to stand but Korppila is controlling from the bottom.
Korppila not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McQuirre is sitting in close to Korppila's body. Korppila has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! McQuirre is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, McQuirre is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Korppila.
