PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Kong (ranked 2743 p4p, 2662 weight class) and Philemon Dander (ranked 334 p4p, 322 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Philemon Dander!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dander misses with a right hand
and Kong counters with a leg kick.
Kong connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A nice combination there by Kong.
Dander is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kong sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Dander closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kong circles away.
Dander throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kong's waist but Kong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dander off to one side.
King Kong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philemon Dander.
Dander tries for a takedown but Kong circles away easily
and Kong counters with a straight right hand.
Dander misses the jab.
Kong moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Dander with a poor takedown
and Kong cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kong stuffs the takedown attempt from Dander. Dander gets slowly back to his feet.
Dander has his takedown stuffed
and Kong counters with a nice uppercut.
Dander looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kong lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Dander goes down and covers up as Kong starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). King Kong!
