Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bang Du (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernie Whit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Du kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Unholy Confession. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ernie Whit!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Du moves in looking to clinch but Whit pushes him off.
Whit defending well as Du loads up on a big left hand.
Du feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Whit's calf.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Whit.
Du wants to control but Whit postures up.
Du takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Whit wants to control but Du is keeping him busy.
Du tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Whit presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Whit landing shots from mount.
Whit blocks Du's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Whit with the ground and pound from mount.
Du has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A nice elbow there by Whit.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Whit shoots in and bounces Du off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Du keeping full guard, as Whit tries to pass.

Whit trying to control the position from guard on top but Du is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Whit checks a leg kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Du. That's going to slow Whit down.
Du takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nice uppercut there from Whit.

Whit closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Du missing with punches from the bottom.
Du makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Du.
Du is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Whit distracts Du with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Whit landing with the ground and pound.

Du is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Whit is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Whit keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Du's head.

Whit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Du. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Du throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Whit lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Du gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Du is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Whit is controlling him.
Whit postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Du has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Whit off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Du takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Whit cracks Du with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Whit looks up at the clock and then as Du takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Whit smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Du takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Du drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Whit can do anything to dispel that myth.

Whit might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Well Whit has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
