Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 1207 p4p, 1017 weight class) and Alexei Brovarnik (ranked 168 p4p, 143 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Pick up man. Brovarnik has chosen Colours - DJ Mind X as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexei Brovarnik!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brovarnik defending well as Anderson loads up on a big left hand.

Anderson moves into the clinch.
Anderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Anderson letting Brovarnik take a breather here.
We've been hearing reports that Anderson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Brovarnik lands an elbow that stopped Anderson in his tracks for a moment.

Anderson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Brovarnik wants to clinch
and Anderson counters with a straight right hand.
Brovarnik throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

A big right from Anderson misses.
Brovarnik drops his hands momentarily and Anderson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Anderson wants to clinch.
Brovarnik flicks out a counter leg kick but Anderson steps away.
Anderson avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Anderson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brovarnik. Brovarnik obviously looking to wear him down.
Anderson throws out a leg kick but Brovarnik moves out of range and Anderson only half commits.
Brovarnik tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anderson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Anderson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brovarnik to the mat! Brovarnik manages to get full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brovarnik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Brovarnik's legs - danger averted.

Anderson passes Brovarnik's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Brovarnik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anderson pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brovarnik is desperately trying to improve his position but Anderson has a good base and remains in mount.

and Brovarnik counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Alexei Brovarnik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Anderson slips a jab and a cross from Brovarnik.
As Brovarnik looks to move away, Anderson throws a big counter combo but Brovarnik just gets out of the way.

Brovarnik pushes Anderson up against the cage in a clinch.

Brovarnik is pressed up against the cage. Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brovarnik down to the mat. Brovarnik avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Brovarnik counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Anderson has managed to clinch.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Anderson as Brovarnik tries to tie him up.
Brovarnik throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Anderson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Anderson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Brovarnik clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Anderson controlling the positon.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close second round but Alexei Brovarnik will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Anderson goes for a double leg but Brovarnik avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brovarnik continues to drive forward.

Anderson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Brovarnik regains guard immediately.

Brovarnik has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.
Anderson wants to pass the guard but Brovarnik is keeping the position.
Anderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Anderson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Brovarnik has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Sparky Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brovarnik breaks Anderson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Brovarnik wants to pass the guard but Anderson is keeping the position.
Anderson wants to get back to his feet but Brovarnik is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Brovarnik is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

My spies in Ludus Magnus inform me that Brovarnik has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
