PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franciszek Zukowski (ranked 3255 p4p, 24643 weight class) and David Snake (ranked 380 p4p, 560 weight class). David Snake is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Franciszek Zukowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Snake!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zukowski gets tackled into the cage by Snake. Snake maintains the clinch.
Snake drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Snake is struggling to control the position.

Zukowski manages to break the clinch.

Zukowski has closed the distance and engaged Snake in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Snake.
A short uppercut from Snake.

Zukowski breaks from the clinch.
A combination from Zukowski does no damage.
Snake tries to close the distance and clinch but Zukowski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zukowski clinches with his opponent.
Snake drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Zukowski gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Zukowski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Zukowski checks a low kick from Snake.

Zukowski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Snake tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zukowski is in Snake's guard.
Snake looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Zukowski puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Snake wants to control but Zukowski passes into side.
Snake is looking to reverse the position.
Zukowski tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Snake sneaks back into half guard.

Zukowski is looking for a kimura here.
Snake has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zukowski is working away from the top position though.

Snake trying to control from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zukowski in particular looking to stall.
Zukowski landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Zukowski is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Zukowski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Snake is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zukowski tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Snake.
Snake gets back to full guard.

Zukowski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zukowski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Zukowski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Snake feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Snake throwing strikes but missing.
Snake in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Snake postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Zukowski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Zukowski is pulling down on Snake's head. It's preventing any offense from Snake, at least for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Zukowski looking for a guillotine here but Snake defends easily.
Zukowski looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Snake throwing strikes but missing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Zukowski throws an overhand right that lands on Snake's shoulder, as Snake tries to avoid the shot.
Snake shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Zukowski is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snake can do to turn this around?
Zukowski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Snake scores with a punch to the head.
No luck for Zukowski with that takedown attempt.
Snake should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
A bone on bone clash there as Snake blocks the leg kick.
Zukowski moves out of range of the leg kick from Snake.
And Zukowski counters with a quick kick to the body but Snake blocks it.

Zukowski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Snake napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Snake sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snake is staying active underneath Zukowski, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Snake is trying to control but Zukowski passes into side control!

Zukowski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zukowski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Snake is trying to control Zukowski's posture but Zukowski avoids it.

Zukowski lands a big shot there that rocks Snake but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Zukowski cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Snake is rocked!

Zukowski is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Snake goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Zukowski!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Franciszek Zukowski!
