Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jackson (ranked 112 p4p, 615 weight class) and Mounir Ayari (ranked 18 p4p, 87 weight class). Ayari has chosen Samira Said - Yallah Rouh as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Mounir Ayari!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ayari.
Ayari comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jackson misses with a hook.
Ayari pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jackson feinted with a counter takedown.
Ayari scores with a nice right hand.
Jackson throws a body shot but no joy.
Jackson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ayari at a distance.
Ayari misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Jackson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ayari cracks a nice hook into Jackson's ribs.
Ayari jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jackson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ayari sprawls and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Ayari.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ayari moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Good exchange - Ayari coming out on top.
Ayari moves out of range as Jackson strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ayari misses with a straight right.
Ayari blocks a jab.
Jackson misses with an uppercut
and Ayari counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ayari getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Jackson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Jackson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ayari.
Jackson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ayari.
A jab from Ayari does it's job there.
Ayari looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A shot to the liver by Ayari. Beautiful body shot.
Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Ayari.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Ayari tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ayari manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson takes a shot right to the bread basket.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ayari looks to land a body kick but Jackson moved away.
Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Ayari slips the punch.

Ayari gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ayari keeping full guard, as Jackson tries to pass.
Ayari is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've been hearing good reports from Jackson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ayari is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ayari dives on top into guard.


Ayari got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ayari has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.

Jackson is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Ayari frees his head nicely. Oh but Jackson has switched to an armbar! Ayari is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Jon Jackson!
