PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Rocksteady (ranked 814 p4p, 543 weight class) and Leon Smith (ranked 103 p4p, 75 weight class). Rocksteady's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Red Right Hand. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Rocksteady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Leon Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocksteady with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Smith has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target.
Rocksteady misses with a takedown
and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.

Rocksteady manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.
Rocksteady wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rocksteady is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A relieved looking James Rocksteady thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
