Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marc Briggs (ranked 4198 p4p, 4195 weight class) and Israel Alvarado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marc Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Israel Alvarado!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarado fails with the takedown
and Alvarado takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Briggs lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Briggs scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Israel Alvarado has been cut.

Alvarado scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alvarado cracks Briggs with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Briggs prevents Alvarado from improving position.
Alvarado in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Alvarado looks up at the clock and then as Briggs takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Alvarado smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarado is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Briggs's shoulder. That is not cool.
It looks like Alvarado might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alvarado is continuing to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Marc Briggs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alvarado closes the distance and clinches up with Briggs, looking for a takedown. Alvarado pushes Briggs against the cage but Briggs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Briggs went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Alvarado shoots in for a double leg but Briggs sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Marc Briggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Israel Alvarado.
Briggs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alvarado shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Briggs defends it nicely.

Alvarado closes the distance and pushes Briggs back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Briggs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Alvarado gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Briggs regains guard.
Alvarado slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Briggs is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Israel Alvarado will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Israel Alvarado's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Alvarado tries to score a power double leg takedown but Briggs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alvarado somewhat.
Alvarado changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Briggs tries to avoid it but Alvarado manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Briggs to the ground. Briggs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alvarado shoots and misses
and Briggs counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Marc Briggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Israel Alvarado.

Briggs tries to keep at a distance but Alvarado has taken the fight into the clinch.
Briggs stops a takedown attempt from Alvarado.

Alvarado gets control of Briggs's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alvarado will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Briggs throws a big right hand that misses.
Briggs wants to stand but Alvarado is controlling his posture from full guard.
Alvarado is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarado trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Briggs trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Briggs is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Alvarado has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Briggs is looking to defend but Alvarado has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Briggs! Alvarado pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Briggs taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Israel Alvarado!
Israel Alvarado got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
