Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Holt (ranked 2591 p4p, 2863 weight class) and Mick Taylor (ranked 173 p4p, 190 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mick Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holt fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Holt misses with a hook to the body

and Taylor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Taylor pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holt throwing strikes but missing.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Holt controlling him for the moment.

Taylor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Holt is aware though and is defending well.
Holt working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Holt throws a big elbow that misses.
Holt trying to control but Taylor is working from the bottom.

Taylor working for a triangle but Holt defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holt throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Holt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Holt throws a big right hand that misses.

Taylor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Holt defends well.
Taylor controls Holt momentarily but Holt frees himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Holt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Taylor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Taylor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Holt is aware though and is defending well.

Holt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Taylor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Holt has managed to get both his arms back between Taylor's legs - danger averted.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taylor is on top in guard.


Taylor is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Holt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Holt has escaped and now he's on top!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Taylor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Holt defends well.
Taylor avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Holt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Holt throwing strikes but missing.
Holt postures up in Taylor's guard and throws a big left but Taylor blocks it.

Taylor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Holt defends it easily.
Holt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Holt is in close to Taylor's body, working some short punches and elbows.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taylor is on top in guard.

Taylor looking to sit in guard and control but Holt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Holt is looking to work some ground and pound but Taylor has wrist control.
Holt lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Holt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Taylor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Taylor is looking for a triangle but Holt pushes his legs off easily.
Holt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Taylor's head.

Taylor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Holt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Taylor is trying to control the position but Holt postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mick Taylor dominated that round.
That's time! Holt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Taylor gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Taylor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Holt scores with a jab to the body.
Sam Holt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Holt punishes Taylor's body with a nice straight punch.
Holt throws an off balance right hand

and Taylor moves into the clinch.
Holt looking to slow down the pace here.
Holt scores with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Taylor wants to take the fight to the mat but Holt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Holt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Holt is trying to break the clinch but Taylor has him pressed against the cage.
Taylor goes for a takedown attempt but Holt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sam Holt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Taylor.
Holt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A slow jab from Holt misses its intended target.
A little jabbing left from Taylor on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Taylor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Holt throws a jab when Taylor was well out of range.
Taylor throws out a counter right but Holt avoids it with no problem.
A big right from Holt misses.
Holt misses with a wild body shot.
Holt misses with a looping right.
Taylor slips a jab and a cross from Holt.
Taylor feints the counter takedown.
Holt throws a series of punches but Taylor avoids them all with ease.
Holt lands a head shot.

Taylor gets the takedown into side control.
Holt is trying to improve his position.
Holt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Holt tries to get out of the position.

Taylor is trying to get an arm triangle but Holt is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Taylor wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Taylor wants to control but Holt is keeping him busy.

Taylor has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Holt is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Taylor yanks on the arm and Holt is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Taylor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mick Taylor!
An out of breath Mick Taylor thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
