The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borisov connects with a single shot there.

Petrov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Borisov circles away.
Borisov throws out a counter right but Petrov avoids it with no problem.

Petrov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Borisov to the mat! Borisov manages to get full guard.

Petrov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Borisov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Borisov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petrov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Petrov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Petrov is looking to take a break and control but Borisov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Petrov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Borisov's head.
Borisov is refusing to be controlled, as Petrov sits in half guard.

Petrov cracks Borisov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Petrov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Petrov lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Petrov is landing with some decent strikes but Borisov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Petrov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Borisov's face.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Petrov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Borisov is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Petrov wants to finish this one by submission but Borisov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Petrov.

Borisov throws out a counter right but Petrov avoids it with no problem.

Petrov takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Petrov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Borisov but Borisov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Borisov walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Petrov drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Borisov swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Petrov's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
