PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stanlee Kelly Jr (ranked 4768 p4p, 4190 weight class) and Curtis Barrett (ranked 0 p4p, 456 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Stanlee Kelly Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Barrett!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kelly Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Barrett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kelly Jr is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barrett, into his guard.

Kelly Jr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barrett works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've been hearing that Kelly Jr has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barrett has his foot on Kelly Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly Jr works his way back into a safe position though.

Barrett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barrett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kelly Jr pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barrett has hold of Kelly Jr's hands but Kelly Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kelly Jr is trying to control the action in half guard but Barrett is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kelly Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Barrett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelly Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kelly Jr looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Kelly Jr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kelly Jr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barrett keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barrett can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kelly Jr is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barrett is just riding it out for now. Kelly Jr eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kelly Jr is keen to just control but Barrett is a slippery customer.
Barrett is looking for a sweep. Kelly Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kelly Jr passes the guard and advances to mount!

Kelly Jr has control of Barrett's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Barrett regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kelly Jr really is a fat lump.
Kelly Jr pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kelly Jr wants to control the pace but Barrett is squirming around nicely.
Kelly Jr tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barrett is trying to escape the mount.

Kelly Jr is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Barrett is forced to tap! Great finish!
