Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kael Conner!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Conner has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Carlson has passed into side control.

Carlson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Conner tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Carlson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Conner to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Conner shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlson lands with some strikes.
Carlson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Conner hang on?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carlson stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlson throws a body punch but Conner moves out of range.
Conner tries to clinch there but Carlson circles away.
Carlson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Conner counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Carlson closes the distance and clinches.
Conner looking to slow down the pace here.

Carlson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carlson enables Conner to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carlson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Conner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carlson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Conner should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Carlson has tightened it up now! Conner should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Santos Carlson!
