PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Gwar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Custer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dustin Custer acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Gwar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dustin Custer!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gwar works Custer's body with a nice hook.
Gwar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gwar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Custer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Custer moves in looking to clinch but Gwar pushes him off.
Gwar keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Gwar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Custer's guard.
Custer is pulling down on Gwar's head to control his posture.

Gwar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Custer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gwar has managed to get both his arms back between Custer's legs - danger averted.
Gwar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gwar stops Custer from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Custer is trying to hold Gwar in close to prevent damage but Gwar has managed to pass into half guard.

Gwar seems to be working for a kimura but Custer defends the submission attempt.

Gwar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Custer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gwar.
Gwar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Custer is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gwar controlling the pace.
Custer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gwar is working away from the top position though.
Gwar trying to pass the guard but Custer defending well.

Gwar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Custer is just riding it out for now. Gwar eventually gives up the hold.
Gwar is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Custer is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gwar sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Custer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gwar is working away from the top position though.
Custer wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Custer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gwar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gwar waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Custer.
Custer has his takedown stuffed

and Gwar counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gwar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Custer looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gwar showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Custer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gwar is one step ahead there.
Gwar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Custer wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Gwar is now in half guard.
Custer gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Gwar dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Custer tries to clinch up
and Gwar counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Custer wants to clinch but Gwar slips to the side

and Gwar counters with a single leg into guard. Custer didn't expect that.
Gwar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gwar lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gwar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Custer is breathing heavily.
Gwar trying to control but Custer is working from the bottom.

Gwar avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Gwar content to stall in guard here.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ray Gwar just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Custer has his takedown stuffed
and Gwar counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Custer thinking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gwar connects with a crisp jab.
Custer on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gwar tests Custer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gwar with a body punch. A glancing blow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Custer takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gwar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Custer was well out of range. Poor timing from Gwar.
Gwar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gwar lands a jab to the head.
Gwar scores with a sloppy right hand. Custer should have avoided that one.
Ray Gwar is winning the standup battle so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Custer closes the distance looking to clinch
and Gwar counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Gwar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Custer can do to turn this around?
Gwar lands a body shot.
Good standup being displayed there by Gwar as he connects with a hook.
Custer takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


Custer is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Custer with a lazy takedown attempt
and Gwar counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gwar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gwar misses with a wild combination.
Custer tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Gwar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Custer is still on wobbly legs! Can Gwar finish him?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gwar lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Custer falls backwards - clearly groggy! Gwar dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ray Gwar!
