Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Markus Kiviranta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Hammonds!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kiviranta looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hammonds!

Hammonds bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Hammonds shoots in for a takedown but Kiviranta shows good takedown defense.
Hammonds tries to close the distance and clinch but Kiviranta swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hammonds gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kiviranta wants to control but Hammonds is keeping busy.

Kiviranta wants to improve his position but Hammonds is controlling well.
Hammonds is trying to control. Kiviranta wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hammonds sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Hammonds tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kiviranta knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kiviranta tries to kick Hammonds off but Hammonds keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kiviranta has a hand on Hammonds's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hammonds takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hammonds stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hammonds is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hammonds lands the left hand.

Hammonds has Kiviranta up against the cage in a clinch.
Kiviranta gets underhooks to prevent Hammonds's takedown attempt.

Kiviranta turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kiviranta manages to end up in side control.

Hammonds manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kiviranta's best efforts.

Kiviranta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hammonds keeps working.

Kiviranta is keen to just control but Hammonds is a slippery customer.

Hammonds is looking to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kiviranta seems to be working for a kimura but Hammonds defends the submission attempt.
Hammonds is looking to control Kiviranta's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hammonds avoid being mounted?
Hammonds tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kiviranta closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kiviranta lands in his opponent's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Hammonds dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kiviranta misses with a head kick.
A low kick lands for Kiviranta.

Kiviranta closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hammonds makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Hammonds throws a head kick but Kiviranta moves out of range.

Kiviranta closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hammonds tries to pull guard but Kiviranta won't allow it.
Hammonds fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammonds is trying to pull guard but Kiviranta turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Markus Kiviranta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron Hammonds.
Hammonds jumps guard but Kiviranta turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Kiviranta manages to pull guard.
Hammonds advances to half guard.

Kiviranta wants to control but Hammonds is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hammonds is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kiviranta is just riding it out for now. Hammonds eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammonds wants to control from the top but Kiviranta keeps moving.

Kiviranta looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hammonds has picked Kiviranta up and slammed him! Kiviranta can't keep hold of the triangle and Hammonds manages to pass to side control!
Kiviranta is looking to regain half guard here but Hammonds keeps moving and retains side control.
Hammonds works to advance to full mount. Kiviranta defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Kiviranta is squirming around, avoiding Hammonds's attempts to control the action.
Hammonds looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Hammonds tries to control but Kiviranta wriggling away.

Kiviranta wants to hold on but Hammonds pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kiviranta tries to improve his position but Hammonds has taken his back! Hammonds has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Kiviranta tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Hammonds pushes Kiviranta away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
