Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Doo Ho Choi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeffrey Hiemstra!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Choi gets tackled into the ropes by Hiemstra. Hiemstra maintains the clinch.

Hiemstra manages to pull guard.

Choi gets to his feet - Hiemstra follows without any prompting.
Choi tries to bum rush Hiemstra with a series of wild strikes but Hiemstra uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Choi scoring well with a low kick there.
Choi looks to land a combination but Hiemstra avoids it well.
Hiemstra tries to counter by closing the distance.
Choi swinging wildly here.
Hiemstra misses with a body kick.
Choi appears to be looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Choi throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Hiemstra counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Choi tries to break the clinch but Hiemstra is controlling the position.
Choi tries to break free but Hiemstra pushes him back against the ropes.
Hiemstra has Choi pressed against the ropes, preventing Choi from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Choi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hiemstra makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Choi really felt that one!
Choi throws a nice outside leg kick.

Hiemstra closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

Choi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hiemstra counters by clinching up.
Choi can't break the clinch.

Hiemstra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Choi avoids the body shot from Hiemstra.

Hiemstra moves into range and clinches up with Choi.
Choi tries to break the clinch but Hiemstra is controlling the position.

Choi tries to land a knee to the head but Hiemstra blocks with his arms.
Hiemstra lands a nice uppercut.
Choi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Choi can't break the clinch.
Hiemstra changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Choi fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Choi scores with a jab. Hiemstra acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A head kick by Choi misses

and Hiemstra moves into the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hiemstra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Choi!

It looks like Jeffrey Hiemstra has been cut.

Hiemstra clinches with his opponent.

Hiemstra stops a takedown attempt from Choi.
Hiemstra has Choi pressed against the ropes.
Hiemstra has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Choi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hiemstra looks winded!
A nice glancing elbow lands by Hiemstra.
Choi tries to break the clinch but Hiemstra is controlling the position.

Hiemstra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Choi looks for the body kick but Hiemstra saw that one coming.
Choi takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Hiemstra pushes Choi up against the ropes in a clinch.
Hiemstra is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hiemstra is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Hiemstra has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Choi seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Hiemstra can turn it around.
Choi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hiemstra pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hiemstra misses with a head kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hiemstra pulls guard effortlessly.

Choi stands and steps away. Hiemstra gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Choi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Choi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hiemstra moves out of range of the body kick.
Hiemstra takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Hiemstra tries to land a leg kick but Choi saw it coming and moves away.
Jeffrey Hiemstra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Choi tries to work over Hiemstra's front leg with a kick but Hiemstra checks it.
Choi throws a sloppy head kick and Hiemstra moves out of range easily.
Hiemstra has his takedown stuffed
and Choi counters with a two punch combo.

Hiemstra is rocked!
Doo Ho Choi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeffrey Hiemstra.
Choi cracks Hiemstra with a hook to the temple - Hiemstra is on wobbly legs here! Choi swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Hiemstra falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Choi wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Doo Ho Choi!
Doo Ho Choi spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
