Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quiverin Gonadus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henri Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Quiverin Gonadus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henri Baker!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Baker shoots in but no luck this time.
Gonadus lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Baker throws a head kick but Gonadus moves out of range.
Baker tries to bum rush Gonadus with a series of wild strikes but Gonadus uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Baker throws a series of punches but Gonadus moves out of range.
Baker fails with a takedown attempt.
Baker throws a shot to the body.
Baker has a takedown stuffed.
Quiverin Gonadus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henri Baker.
A left and a right from Baker both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Quiverin Gonadus has been cut.
Baker stuffs the takedown attempt from Gonadus. Gonadus gets slowly back to his feet.

Baker listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Gonadus is breathing heavily.
Baker misses with a head kick.
Baker throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Baker gets control of Gonadus's arms and successfully pulls guard. Baker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Baker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gonadus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gonadus stands up from guard. Let's bang!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Baker clinches up against the cage.

Gonadus trying to stand up but can't free himself from Baker's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baker is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Baker misses with a series of wild punches.
Gonadus has a takedown stuffed.
Nice takedown defense from Gonadus. No joy for Baker on that attempt.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gonadus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Baker as he jumps to the side.
A jab from Baker finds it's way through Gonadus's defenses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Baker.
Baker has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gonadus!
Baker lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baker sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Baker trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Baker moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gonadus has worked his arm free - good work by Gonadus!

Baker decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gonadus to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gonadus fails in his attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Gonadus misses the target.

Baker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Baker decides to pull guard.
Gonadus passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Baker tries to roll over but Gonadus keeps him under control.
Baker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baker is controlling Gonadus's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Gonadus stands up out of the half guard.
Baker misses with an uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baker tries to clinch but Gonadus is having none of it.
Gonadus tries to close the distance and clinch but Baker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Baker fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gonadus looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Baker clinches with his opponent.

Gonadus is fighting off a takedown attempt but Baker is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gonadus to the mat. Gonadus regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Baker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Baker wants to control from the top but Gonadus keeps moving.

Gonadus is working an open guard so Baker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henri Baker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gonadus with a poor takedown

and Baker counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gonadus!
Baker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Baker thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Baker looking to ground and pound but Gonadus is blocking nicely.
Gonadus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Baker looking to control but Gonadus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Baker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Baker is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gonadus has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Baker landing strikes from the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Baker content just to control the position here.
Henri Baker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Baker trying to control but Gonadus is having none of it.

Gonadus avoids a series of strikes thrown by Baker.
Baker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Baker looking to control but Gonadus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Baker lands a big shot there that rocks Gonadus but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Quiverin Gonadus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Baker lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gonadus hang on?
Baker throwing strikes here but Gonadus is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Baker tries to control but Gonadus wriggling away.
Henri Baker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Baker is trying to control here but Gonadus has managed to regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Henri Baker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Baker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
