PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alkaline Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Turdang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Solo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Radio. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turdang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Turdang closes the distance and clinches.
Solo tries to pull guard but Turdang won't allow it.
Stalling in the clinch from Solo.

Solo pulls guard.
Solo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Solo wants to sweep but no luck.

Solo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Turdang can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Turdang looking to pass the guard.

Turdang drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Solo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Turdang has Solo in his guard.

Solo trying to control but Turdang is working from the bottom.
Solo looking to sit in guard and control but Turdang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Turdang wants to control from the top but Solo keeps moving.
Turdang chips away with some ground and pound.

Turdang controls Solo momentarily but Solo frees himself.

Solo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Turdang on the ground.
Solo is really struggling to control Turdang but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Turdang looking to hit a scissor sweep but Solo is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Solo wants to control but Turdang is keeping busy.
Turdang is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Turdang works his foot free and advances to mount.
Solo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Solo wants to control but Turdang is having none of it.
Solo is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Turdang lands a big shot there that rocks Solo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Turdang controlling the pace for now.
Turdang's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Solo stops Turdang from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Solo reaches up to try and control the position but Turdang seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Solo rolls and tries to escape and now Turdang has his back!

Solo is looking for a kimura but Turdang is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Solo to get the leverage.
Solo is looking to pass Turdang's guard but actually Turdang recovers to full guard.

Solo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Turdang is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Solo, into his guard.
Turdang lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Turdang gets to his feet. Solo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Solo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Turdang is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Solo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Solo's back!
