PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Weismuller (ranked 3083 p4p, 3998 weight class) and Sand Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weismuller comes into the arena with The Nosebleed Section by Hilltop Hoods blaring out of the sound system. Weismuller has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Sand Storm has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tommy Weismuller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Sand Storm!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weismuller shoots in for a takedown but Storm shows good takedown defense.

Storm feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Weismuller is breathing heavily.
Storm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weismuller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Weismuller has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Storm is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Weismuller.
Storm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weismuller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Storm is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Weismuller is trying to escape the mount.
Storm throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Storm throws some wild stikes that Weismuller manages to avoid easily.
Storm misses with some ground and pound and Weismuller recovers position to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Storm perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Storm is trying to control the action in half guard but Weismuller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Storm wants to stand up but Weismuller has a hold of him and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Weismuller shoots in for a double leg but Storm sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Despite the aggression on Storm's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Storm throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Storm throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weismuller's waist but Weismuller gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Storm off to one side.
Storm throws a nice looking combination but Weismuller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Storm shoots for a takedown but Weismuller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Weismuller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Storm darts in looking for a takedown but Weismuller gets double underhooks and turns Storm into the cage.
As Storm tries to get set, Weismuller tries to push him back and clinch up but Storm manages to avoid the attempt.

Storm looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Weismuller is fending him off so far but Storm persists. Nope, Weismuller circles away and we're back to standing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Storm misses with a takedown attempt - Weismuller sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Weismuller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Weismuller lands in his opponent's guard.
Storm wants to sweep but no luck.
Weismuller throwing strikes but missing.
Tommy Weismuller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Weismuller is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
