Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ulysses Corbin (ranked 3950 p4p, 3415 weight class) and Stefan Soderberg (ranked 480 p4p, 434 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ulysses Corbin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stefan Soderberg!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Corbin.

Corbin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Soderberg under the eye.
Soderberg lands with a cross.
Soderberg swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Corbin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Corbin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Soderberg.

and Corbin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Corbin misses with a shot to the body
and Soderberg counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Corbin moves forwards but Soderberg connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Soderberg throws a series of punches but Corbin moves out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Soderberg throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Corbin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Stefan Soderberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soderberg tries to sprawl but Corbin drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Soderberg kicks Corbin off and gets back to his feet.

Soderberg takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Corbin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Soderberg avoids a punch combination nicely.
No joy there for Corbin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Soderberg looks to land a left hand but Corbin moved out of range nicely.

Corbin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Corbin digs a good body shot into Soderberg's ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Soderberg throws a combination. Corbin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Soderberg throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Corbin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Corbin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Well, if Corbin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soderberg won't allow Corbin to pass to mount.

Corbin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Corbin connects with a nice short shot to Soderberg's temple.
Soderberg told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Corbin lands a nice short elbow.

Corbin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Corbin is trying to control the action in half guard but Soderberg is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Soderberg wants to improve his position but Corbin is controlling well.
Corbin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Corbin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Soderberg is trying to get back to full guard.

Corbin lands strikes from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soderberg on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Soderberg is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Corbin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Corbin's back!

Corbin really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Soderberg's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

Corbin tries to escape but Soderberg has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Soderberg controls the action.
Corbin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Soderberg's guard. Nice work there by Corbin.
Soderberg is looking to stand up but Corbin isn't so interested in that idea.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Soderberg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Corbin's guard.


Soderberg has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Corbin to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Soderberg is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Corbin pulls down on the head and he's put Soderberg to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ulysses Corbin!
A relieved looking Ulysses Corbin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
