The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cherry wants to clinch up but Micks keeps it at a distance.
Cherry throws a series of punches but Micks moves out of range.
Cherry is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Micks.
Cherry works the jab nicely.
Micks shoots for a takedown but Cherry saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Cherry takes the fight into the clinch.
Cherry has had enough of the clinch but Micks keeps him there for the moment.

Micks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Micks shoots for a double leg takedown but Cherry sprawls well. He's pushed Micks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A slow jab from Micks misses its intended target.
Cherry moves out of range of the leg kick from Micks.
A combination from Cherry does no damage.
Micks shoots in for a double leg but Cherry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Don Cherry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Micks.
Micks throws a sloppy head kick and Cherry moves out of range easily.
Micks's corner calls for a 1-2. Micks obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Cherry will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Some bone on bone action there as Cherry checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

A decent looking cross lands there for Cherry.
Micks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Micks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cherry swivels and escapes.

Micks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Cherry instigates a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Micks stops a takedown attempt from Cherry.
Micks tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Cherry breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Micks avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fred Micks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Micks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cherry.
A right-left combo lands from Cherry.
Micks moves out of range of the strikes.
Micks pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A punch combination from Micks misses.
Cherry lands with a right and another and another! Micks is in big trouble! Cherry lands again and this time it's lights out for Micks! A quality knockout there for Cherry.
