The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks scores with a punch to the head.
Donk. Hicks catches Rose right on the button with a cross.
Hicks throws a right and a left that Rose avoids nicely.
Rose feints the counter takedown.
Rose shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hicks eats them both and turns towards Rose to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Rose forces Hicks back against the cage and clinches.
Rose blocks a body shot from Hicks.
Rose lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Rose jumps guard but Hicks turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Hicks lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rose backwards.
Rose doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hicks gets through Rose's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Hicks is pressed up against the cage. Rose has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hicks down to the mat. Hicks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hicks jabs Rose right on the nose. Rose blinks but takes it well.

Hicks falls off balance throwing a combination

and Rose counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hicks is looking for a triangle but Rose pushes his legs off easily.
Rose throws a big right hand that misses.

Rose pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hicks is keeping the position for now.

Rose is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hicks is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hicks has escaped and now he's on top!

Rose has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hicks is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rose.

Hicks is trying to control. Rose wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rose has a hand on Hicks's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hicks takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hicks avoids the attempt from Rose to control.

Hicks landing strikes from the mount and Rose is in trouble!
Rose is squirming around, avoiding Hicks's attempts to control the action.
Rose manages to control the position for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rose cracks Hicks with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rose.
Rose drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hicks defends it well.
Rose takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rose takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hicks connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rose's hands.

Rose is rocked!
Hicks ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Rose's jaw. Rose's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Hicks does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
