PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe McConnell (ranked 1657 p4p, 1554 weight class) and Kamu Havas (ranked 95 p4p, 89 weight class). Havas has chosen LXST CXNTURY - CARBON MIST as his entrance music. Kamu Havas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe McConnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kamu Havas!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConnell misses with an uppercut
and Havas counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McConnell thinking.
McConnell moves in looking to clinch but Havas pushes him off.
Havas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A big right from Havas misses.
McConnell throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Havas counters with a straight right hand.
McConnell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Havas paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Havas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McConnell moves into range and clinches up with Havas.
McConnell lands a damaging elbow.

It looks like Kamu Havas has been cut.
Havas is trying to force a seperation but McConnell has the dominant position.
McConnell lands an elbow that stopped Havas in his tracks for a moment.
McConnell tries to land a knee to the head but Havas blocks with his arms.
Havas takes an elbow to the temple.
Havas blocks an uppercut.
McConnell throws an elbow that misses.
McConnell lands an elbow inside.

That has opened up Kamu Havas's cut even more.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McConnell throws an elbow but it's blocked.
McConnell looking to throw knees to the head but Havas is blocking nicely.
The referee is keeping an eye on Havas - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A quick uppercut on the inside from McConnell.

The cut above Kamu Havas's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
McConnell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Havas's defenses.
McConnell misses with a punch on the inside.
Havas wants to break free but McConnell has control.
Havas is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McConnell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Havas misses with a double jab.
McConnell throws a lazy uppercut
and Havas counters with a lovely shot to the body.

McConnell closes the distance and pushes Havas back into the cage.
McConnell throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Havas displaying some good clinch control by pressing McConnell up against the cage.
Havas takes an elbow to the temple.

Kamu Havas's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kamu Havas's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Joe McConnell!
