Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Serwacy Smolarek (ranked 2691 p4p, 3167 weight class) and Todd Phillips (ranked 346 p4p, 386 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smolarek might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to No Easy Way Out. Serwacy Smolarek could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Todd Phillips's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Serwacy Smolarek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Todd Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smolarek avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Phillips defending well as Smolarek loads up on a big left hand.
Phillips misses with a double jab.
Phillips moves away from the strike by Smolarek.
A combination from Smolarek does no damage.
Smolarek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phillips tries to avoid it but Smolarek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phillips to the ground. Phillips escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smolarek has been working on his balance at Gold Samurai's Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Phillips.
Smolarek throws a big shot that misses.
Smolarek throws a hook but Phillips blocks it.
Smolarek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Phillips. Phillips obviously looking to wear him down.
Smolarek shoots in and gets a takedown into Phillips's guard.
Phillips is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smolarek is controlling him.
Smolarek won't allow Phillips to sweep him here.

Phillips tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Smolarek manages to move to mount!
Phillips is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Phillips wants to hold on but Smolarek pushes him away.
Smolarek is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Phillips has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Phillips!
Smolarek has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Phillips can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Smolarek is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Phillips presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Phillips's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smolarek gets the takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Phillips trying his best to control but Smolarek has mounted him.
Phillips is trying to stand.
Smolarek wants to control the pace but Phillips is squirming around nicely.
Phillips tries to hold on but Smolarek postures up.

Smolarek goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Phillips turns into him and now he's in Smolarek's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Phillips wants to stand and escape but instead Smolarek has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Phillips manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smolarek manages to get himself to full guard.

Smolarek looking to control but Phillips passes into half guard.
Smolarek avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Phillips.

Phillips tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smolarek knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Smolarek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Serwacy Smolarek will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Smolarek throws a hook but Phillips avoids it easily.
Smolarek catches Phillips with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Phillips fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Todd Phillips is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Phillips rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smolarek moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Phillips has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Phillips there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Smolarek jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smolarek cracks Phillips with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Phillips looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Smolarek finish him?
Phillips is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smolarek punishes Phillips's body with a nice straight punch.
Phillips is still on wobbly legs! Can Smolarek finish him?
Smolarek lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Phillips tries to clinch but Smolarek is having none of it.
Phillips ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smolarek moves away.
Phillips misses with an attempted mid kick.
Sloppy strikes from Phillips. Those never looked like landing.
Smolarek drops Phillips with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Phillips! Smolarek dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Serwacy Smolarek!
