PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Little Bandit (ranked 1814 p4p, 2583 weight class) and Lou Gotch (ranked 130 p4p, 173 weight class). Little Bandit had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Little Bandit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lou Gotch!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bandit gets caught napping as Gotch dives in and scores a takedown. Bandit manages to retain guard.

Bandit pushes Gotch off and scrambles back to his feet.
Gotch throws a big shot that misses.

Gotch gets a takedown into half guard.
Gotch slows the pace down in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gotch uses his free foot to push down on Bandit's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bandit.
Gotch tries to control but Bandit wriggling away.

Gotch is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bandit has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bandit!

Gotch can't keep his opponent in guard - Bandit advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bandit wants to pass the guard but Gotch is defending well.
Bandit is trying to control the action in half guard but Gotch is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gotch wants to control but Bandit is keeping busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bandit is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Little Bandit will probably get the nod.

Gotch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bandit lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Gotch fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bandit looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Bandit sneaks out the side door and pushes Gotch away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bandit throws out a loose jab but Gotch uses good head movement to avoid it.

Gotch feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

My spies in Freddy\'s Grappling Institute inform me that Gotch has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lou Gotch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

I would just about give that final round to Lou Gotch.
I think Gotch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
