PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vic Romano (ranked 1645 p4p, 1630 weight class) and Zai Zai Cabango (ranked 222 p4p, 219 weight class). Romano comes to the cage accompanied by MXC Most Extreme Challenge . Cabango has chosen HonestKey- Who I Am as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vic Romano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zai Zai Cabango!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romano throws a right hand that misses
and Cabango counters with a nice uppercut.
Cabango fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Romano has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Romano throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabango sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Romano avoids the head kick by Cabango.
Romano throws a lazy right hand but Cabango sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cabango.
Romano ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Romano lands a nice looking body shot.
Romano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Romano looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Cabango takes a swing at Romano's ribcage but misses.
Cabango throws a head kick that misses
and Romano counters with a stiff right hand.
Cabango takes one to the side of the head.
Cabango displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Romano throws out the jab.

Romano clinches up with Cabango and pushes him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cabango lands a right hand that snaps the head of Romano backwards.
Cabango throws a head punch that misses.
Cabango tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Romano smiles and moves away.
Cabango throws out a leg kick but Romano moves out of range and Cabango only half commits.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Romano moves into the clinch.
Cabango throws a punch but it's blocked by Romano.
Romano lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Romano softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Cabango tries to pull guard but Romano won't allow it.
Cabango lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Romano.
Romano lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Zai Zai Cabango has been cut.
Cabango jumps guard but Romano stands there with Cabango around his waist. Cabango gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Vic Romano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zai Zai Cabango.
Romano lands an elbow inside.
Romano misses with a short punch on the inside.
Cabango has a couple of punches blocked by Romano.
Cabango takes an elbow to the temple.
Cabango fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Romano lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Romano tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cabango just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Romano creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cabango's defenses.
Romano gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

That has opened up Zai Zai Cabango's cut even more.
Romano tries to work over Cabango's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cabango misses with a punch to the body.
Romano digs a right hand into Cabango's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Cabango's gas tank.
Romano gets through Cabango's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Cabango throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Romanos head.

Cabango throws a punch but it's blocked by Romano.
Romano misses with the head strike.
Cabango tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Romano just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cabango pulls guard successfully.
Cabango looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Romano sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cabango's guard.

Romano slips a nice elbow through Cabango's hands, connecting with Cabango's forehead.

Cabango avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Romano.
Romano not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Romano drops an elbow to the side of Cabango's head.

Cabango is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Romano pulls his head out easily.
Romano prevents Cabango from improving his position.
Romano lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Cabango regains full guard. Nicely done.
Romano keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cabango's head.
Romano stands up over Cabango, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Romano accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cabango looking for a guillotine here but Romano defends easily.

Cabango looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Romano passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cabango on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Romano is looking to pass to full mount but he's left his head exposed in the process. Cabango has locked up a guillotine and regained full guard. He's really cranking on it - this could be the end! Is it? Is it? No... YES! YES! He's tapped! I didn't think he was going to get it there for a minute but he did! Well done Cabango! He waited for his chance and took it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Zai Zai Cabango!
A very excited looking Zai Zai Cabango made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
