PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cormac Mac Airt (ranked 1889 p4p, 2538 weight class) and Yamcha Wolf-Fang (ranked 246 p4p, 308 weight class). Wolf-Fang has chosen Rise Against - Give It All as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf-Fang lands with a good body shot.
Mac Airt punishes Wolf-Fang's body with a nice straight punch.
Mac Airt throws a jab but it's blocked by Wolf-Fang.

Wolf-Fang moves into the clinch successfully.
Mac Airt misses with a body punch.
Mac Airt misses with a short punch on the inside.
Wolf-Fang wants to take the fight to the mat but Mac Airt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
I was talking to Mac Airt's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The referee is keeping an eye on Mac Airt - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mac Airt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Wolf-Fang backwards.

Wolf-Fang jumps into guard, dragging Mac Airt to the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wolf-Fang tries for a kimura but Mac Airt is defending well.
The strikes coming from Wolf-Fang are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Wolf-Fang postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mac Airt sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Wolf-Fang seems content to control.

Wolf-Fang is taking a breather. Mac Airt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Wolf-Fang wants to work for an arm triangle but Mac Airt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Cormac Mac Airt has been cut.
Mac Airt takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Mac Airt lands a jab to Wolf-Fang's midsection.
Mac Airt keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cormac Mac Airt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wolf-Fang ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mac Airt has control of Wolf-Fang's left arm, preventing Wolf-Fang from doing any damage.
Wolf-Fang is looking to work some ground and pound but Mac Airt has wrist control.

Wolf-Fang stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Mac Airt throws up his legs and catches Wolf-Fang in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Wolf-Fang tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Mac Airt! That came out of nowhere!
