PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Bacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Thor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bacon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Just Like You Imagined by Nine Inch Nails. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Bacon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Thor!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bacon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Bacon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bacon trying to control the action but Thor is working from the bottom.
Thor is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bacon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bacon's back!
You can see the frustration on Bacon's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Bacon is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Thor gets his way!
I really don't envy Bacon right now.
Thor is working the ground and pound. Can Bacon escape?

Thor is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bacon defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Thor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bacon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bacon looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Thor has picked Bacon up and slammed him! Bacon can't keep hold of the triangle and Thor manages to pass to side control!

Thor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bacon, who protects the arm well.

Thor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bacon is not content to let Thor control the position.

Thor has hold of Bacon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bacon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Thor manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bacon to take his back!

Thor is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bacon is defending well though. Thor let's go of the attempt for now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Thor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bacon's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bacon manages to work his way to half guard, despite Thor's best efforts.

Bacon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Thor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bacon is just riding it out for now. Thor eventually gives up the hold.

Thor looking to break Bacon's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bacon remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Thor will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Bacon manages to reverse the position and now he's in Thor's guard. Nice work there by Bacon.
Bacon tries to free his leg and advance position but Thor is retaining full guard.

Bacon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thor!
Bacon can't do much from the bottom here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bacon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thor manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bacon has Thor in his guard.

Thor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bacon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thor has managed to get both his arms back between Bacon's legs - danger averted.

I would just about give that final round to Damien Thor.
Well Thor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
