PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Richard (ranked 4051 p4p, 4078 weight class) and Ka Jin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ka Jin!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richard misses with a wild combination.
Jin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Richard!

Richard throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Richard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jin quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jin tries to roll over but Richard keeps him under control.
Jin works his way to full guard. Good work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richard is working Jin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Richard trying to control but Jin is working from the bottom.
Richard trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Richard chips away with some ground and pound.
Richard cracks Jin with a solid left hand.
Richard stays in close to Jin's body and controls the position.
Richard slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Jin is trying to control Richard's posture but Richard avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Richard tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Richard is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
You can see the frustration on Jin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Richard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Richard lands a decent elbow from side control.
Richard controls the position.
Richard landing strikes.
Richard trying to control the action but Jin is working from the bottom.
Jin struggling a bit here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Richard passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Jin!
Richard tries to control but Jin wriggling away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Richard content just to control the position here.
Jin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Richard dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Good shot there by Jin.
Kyle Richard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Richard lands with a good body shot.
Richard is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jin can do to turn this around?

Jin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Richard pushes Jin off and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jin tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Richard counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jin!
Jin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Richard has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Jin gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Richard is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Richard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Richard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jin for as long as he can get away with.
Jin regains half guard.
Jin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Richard scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jin gets full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Richard makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Richard looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Richard tries to free his leg and advance position but Jin is retaining full guard.
Richard is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kyle Richard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Richard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jin is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Richard controls the pace.
Richard lands a couple of digs.
Richard postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Richard is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Richard kicks off Jin and gets to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jin avoids a kick to the body.

Richard shoots in and bounces Jin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Richard with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Richard pushes down on Jin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Richard looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Richard dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Richard manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Richard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jin circles away quickly and effectively.
Jin slips a jab and a cross from Richard.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jin crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Richard - the referee stops the clock and Jin gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Richard. Jin manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Jin misses with the combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Richard dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jin is looking to clinch but Richard is avoiding it.

Richard throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jin was covering up waiting for the punch and Richard finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Richard manages to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Richard content to control rather than advance.
Richard wants to take a breather but Jin is having none of it.
Richard prevents Jin from improving his position.
Jin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Richard is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Richard content to control rather than advance.

Jin looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Richard pushes past his half guard into mount!
Kyle Richard is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Richard controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Richard continues to stall.
Jin can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Richard controlling the pace for now.
Jin tries to lock up and control but Richard gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Richard takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyle Richard showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Richard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
