The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Paruzzi with a poor takedown
and Souza counters with a big head kick but Paruzzi shrugs it off.
Souza throws a front kick that sends Paruzzi stumbling back into the ropes.
Nice takedown defense from Souza. No joy for Paruzzi on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manuel Paruzzi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paruzzi takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Paruzzi shoots in but Souza avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Paruzzi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Souza wants to get back to his feet but Paruzzi drags him back down.

Souza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paruzzi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Paruzzi is working to tighten his grip on Souza's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Souza has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Paruzzi is really squeezing tight and eventually Souza passes out! Paruzzi breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
