The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mayorga counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Yoshihiro Akiyama has been cut.
Mayorga clobbers Akiyama with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Akiyama misses with a lunging right hand
and Mayorga cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Akiyama misses with a wild combination.
Akiyama takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Akiyama looks winded!
A nice leg kick lands there from Mayorga.
Mayorga scores with a jab to the body.
Mayorga lands a big uppercut and Akiyama crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Akiyama looks OK. Mayorga waves Akiyama back to his feet!
Akiyama is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mayorga connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Akiyama out cold! This one is over in a flash!
