PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jun Fan Lee (ranked 2701 p4p, 3300 weight class) and Carson Tully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes into the arena with Bruce Lee Soundtrack blaring out of the sound system. Tully has chosen Aztec Tribe - Pistoleros as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jun Fan Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carson Tully!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tully shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
My spies in Shinobi Martial Arts & Ninjutsu inform me that Tully has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Lee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tully.
Tully passes to side control.
Tully misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tully on the ground.

Lee throws Tully to one side and escapes!
Tully shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lee misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tully looks like he wants to counter punch here.
No luck for Tully with that takedown attempt.
Carson Tully seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tully shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A little feinted left hand from Lee on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jun Fan Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carson Tully.
Tully shoots and misses
and Lee counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tully fails with a takedown attempt.
Lee tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Tully manages to circle out of the way.

Lee stuffs the takedown.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee lands the left hand.
Nice takedown defense from Lee. No joy for Tully on that attempt.
Lee is looking for a counter combo.
Tully looks for a takedown but Lee sprawls well.
Tully walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Lee moves into range and clinches up with Tully.
Lee struggles to land a body shot inside as Tully controls his hands.
A body shot lands from Lee.
The referee is keeping an eye on Lee - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Lee is pressed up against the cage. Tully has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lee down to the mat. Lee avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Lee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tully gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lee counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tully.

Lee tests Tully's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tully fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.
Lee appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Good shot there by Lee.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.
Lee presses Tully against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A hook to the body from Lee.
Lee lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Tully drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lee pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Tully shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.
Tully tries to score a body lock takedown but Lee shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Tully wants to take the fight to the mat but Lee manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Lee pushes Tully back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Tully drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Tully gets a takedown into half guard.
Lee is trying to stand back up but Tully is controlling him

Lee manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Tully moves forwards but Lee connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Lee lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tully closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lee circles away.

Tully tries to sprawl but Lee drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Tully is breathing heavily.

Tully looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Tully tries to roll over but Lee keeps him under control.
Tully has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lee decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Tully takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.
Lee defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tully.
Tully shoots in but no luck this time.
Lee swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Tully fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lee throws a head kick but Tully moves out of range.
Lee lands with a hook. Tully tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Jun Fan Lee is winning the standup battle so far.
Tully slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
Tully shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lee as he avoids it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lee connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Tully is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lee sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lee cracks Tully with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Tully tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lee defends well and Tully ends up having to push Lee into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lee is looking to land body kicks.
Lee throws a combination. Tully tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Lee moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Tully is rocked!
Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tully can do to turn this around?
Lee shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Tully eats them both and turns towards Lee to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Tully is still on wobbly legs! Can Lee finish him?

Lee closes the distance and pushes Tully back into the cage.
Lee lands a big right hand that drops Tully! The killer instinct kicks in and Lee finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Lee!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jun Fan Lee!
A relieved looking Jun Fan Lee thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
