In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 34 wins and 22 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 56 wins and 40 losses; Shane MacGowan!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.


Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?

MacGowan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kulik looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
MacGowan is working for a kimura here but Kulik manages to reverse the position and he's now in MacGowan's guard.

Kulik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kulik doesn't have the hooks in and MacGowan manages to turn into his guard.

Kulik will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
MacGowan wants to pass the guard but Kulik is keeping the position.
Kulik has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

MacGowan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kulik haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

MacGowan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kulik wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kulik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kulik's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacGowan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Kulik has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Kulik.

You can see the frustration on MacGowan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kulik slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
MacGowan is in bad spot here.

MacGowan is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Kulik.
Kulik seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down MacGowan for as long as he can get away with.
