Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Richard James (ranked 2338 p4p, 1665 weight class) and Hunter Hendricks (ranked 267 p4p, 205 weight class). Hendricks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Cowboy - Kid Rock kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Hendricks, which made it look bad.
Hendricks throws a big counter head kick but James avoids it with no problem.
James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hendricks is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Hendricks circles away and we're back to standing.
Richard James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James darts in and clinches Hendricks up against the cage.

James tries to work over Hendricks's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

James blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hendricks wants to break free but James has control.
Hendricks is trying to break free.
Hendricks is trying to maintain a safe position but James gets an underhook and turns Hendricks into the cage.
James will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hendricks up against the cage.
James goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hendricks blocks an uppercut.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hendricks clobbers James with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
James blocks a head kick by Hendricks.
Hendricks takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
James tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hendricks defends well and James ends up having to push Hendricks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

James tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hendricks's elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James lands with a short shot to the head.

James swings away with an uppercut that misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Richard James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Hendricks counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Hendricks dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!
Hunter Hendricks seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hendricks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as James throws out the jab.
Hendricks throws a counter combo.
James throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hendricks only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Hendricks has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hendricks there as he acknowledges the shot.
James tries to bum rush Hendricks with a series of wild strikes but Hendricks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

James throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hendricks stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

James takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
James throws a big shot that misses.
James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hendricks defends it nicely.
James misses with a combination
and Hendricks counters with a straight right hand.
Hendricks tries to land a leg kick but James saw it coming and moves away.
James with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hendricks counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Hendricks counters with a straight that turns James's legs to rubber! Hendricks pushes forward with more strikes and James goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
