Akerfeldt comes to the cage accompanied by Amon Amarth - Guardians Of Asgaard. Mikael Akerfeldt has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mikael Akerfeldt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Akerfeldt.
Gracie tries to bum rush Akerfeldt with a series of wild strikes but Akerfeldt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gracie lands with a cross.
Akerfeldt has a takedown stuffed.
Akerfeldt avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Akerfeldt swats away the attempt to clinch by Gracie.
Gracie misses with a wild combination.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Akerfeldt pinned against the cage. Akerfeldt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Max Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big left from Gracie misses.
Gracie lands a nice shot that snaps Akerfeldt's head back.

Gracie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Akerfeldt as he jumps to the side.

Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akerfeldt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gracie tries a head kick but it misses.
Gracie should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akerfeldt ducks right into an uppercut from Gracie.
Akerfeldt takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Akerfeldt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Akerfeldt to see if he's OK.

Gracie lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Akerfeldt down.

Gracie looks up at the clock and then as Akerfeldt takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gracie smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Akerfeldt had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gracie is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Akerfeldt Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gracie's back instead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akerfeldt gets his hands free as Gracie looks to control.

Akerfeldt working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Gracie is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Akerfeldt has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Gracie taps out!
