With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Rios!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios circles away from the clinch attempt.

I was talking to Day's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Rios fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Day clinches up with Rios and pushes him back against the cage.

and Rios counters with a three punch combo that has Day backing up. Day nods at Rios to acknowledge the strikes.

As Day backs off Rios throws a huge counter combo but Day manages to avoid it all.

and Rios counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A nice combination there by Rios.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Leg Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Day throws a head kick that Rios semi-blocks.

Diego Rios seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Day throws a leg kick that is checked
and Rios counters with a stiff right hand.
Day throws the kick towards the body but Rios avoids it.
Rios flicks out a counter leg kick but Day steps away.

Rios takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Day looks to throw a body kick
and Rios counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Rios tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Rios has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

and Day counters with a nice low kick that buckles Rios's knee momentarily.

Day is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rios is defending well for now.

Rios swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The fight stays on the outside here - Day looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leg Day will probably get the nod.

and Day takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Day tries to clinch but Rios is having none of it.

Rios stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Day.

Day throws a sloppy head kick and Rios moves out of range easily.
Leg Day is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Rios counters with a left and a right that stings Day.
Day connects with a solid leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Day wants to clinch but Rios slips to the side
and Rios cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Diego Rios.
I think Day has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
