The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake misses with a few strikes there.
McNulty misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lake.

and McNulty counters with a shoot takedown. Lake fights it but they end up in guard.
McNulty trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

McNulty throws a strike but Lake rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lake is staying active underneath McNulty, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McNulty lands a lovely overhand right.
Lake throws a quick inside leg kick.
Lake ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lake misses with a jab to the body
and McNulty counters with a nice uppercut.
McNulty uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lake.
McNulty dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lake is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McNulty.
McNulty moves away from the strike by Lake.
McNulty works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Lake throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lake misses with a hook. McNulty ducked under it nicely.
Lake swings away with a body shot that misses
and McNulty counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and McNulty counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

McNulty scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lake keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McNulty uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lake has time to react.

Andrew Lake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McNulty misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lake.
McNulty dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

McNulty fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lake looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lake lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McNulty has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McNulty and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
McNulty works Lake's body with a nice hook.

McNulty lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Andrew Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McNulty throws a right and a left that both miss.
McNulty fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McNulty stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nice straight punches there by McNulty. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McNulty.

McNulty in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.


Lake is rocked!

Lake is still in real trouble! Can McNulty finish him?
Lake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McNulty scores with a couple of short elbows.
McNulty cracks Lake with an elbow. That is naaassty.
McNulty in side control lands a decent elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McNulty is working Lake over with some ground and pound from side control.

McNulty grinds an elbow into Lake's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy McNulty dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lake walks straight into a right hand from McNulty - that's dropped him! McNulty jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Lake from any more punishment! Lake complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jimmy McNulty!
