The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patrick chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Patrick buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Patrick connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Patrick with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Villechaize to score with a decent uppercut.

Villechaize shoots in for a takedown but Patrick shows good takedown defense.

Patrick tries to break free but Villechaize pushes him back against the cage.
I was talking to Villechaize's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Villechaize looks to land a left hand but Patrick moved out of range nicely.
And Patrick responds with a good body kick, but Villechaize manages to step out the way in time.

Villechaize shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Villechaize showed some decent athleticism there.

Patrick is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Villechaize scores with a couple of nice shots.

Patrick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Villechaize. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Patrick has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Villechaize ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Villechaize no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Villechaize bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Patrick's guard.

Villechaize seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Villechaize around the waist but Villechaize pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him!
